Washington DC Fly-In
I recently flew to Washington DC for the Health care Fly-In. The idea was to get visits with your Representatives and explain why a government run health system is not such a great idea. I was not able to see our local reps, but I was able to talk with a number of people and share my views. The big thing that I got while on the trip was a flow chart of how the proposed government run program would work. If it was not so scary it would be funny. It sort of reminds you of a Rube Goldburg type design on steroids. I am providing a link so you can have a look. Make sure that you are sitting down. Keep in mind that anything the government has ever done they have done with massive cost overruns. I would at least double or triple any number they give you. The only Government program that actually is effective is our military and that suffers from the massive overruns just like all the other programs. Where is that money coming from. Debt and more debt. Who will pay that debt? Ask you representatives and ask your president. Watch out for the smoke and mirrors and next time an election comes around vote on your principals.

Good post Gerard,
ReplyDeleteAll sides of the health care debate agree that Government expenditures are increasing and becoming unsustainable. Health care reform has become synonomous with lowering cost without much mention of what Americans might lose in terms of quality, access and choice. Basic economics and common since dictates that the government can forcably reduce expeditures on medical services by only two methods: 1) restricting the use of medical services and 2) lowering the payments of such services. Call it what you want but it boils down to direct or indirect RATIONING of medical care. How dare the government put a price on human life.
